There’s nothing quite like seeing an elephant in the wild, or an orangutan, or a giant tortoise. But it’s the creatures you didn’t even know about when you left home that will leave the biggest impression on you. No one expects to meet a bat with an echolocation call so high my bat detector can’t even handle it (178 kHz)! But our group in Borneo did just that: Hipposideros dyacorum – That’s a bat none of us will ever forget!
